River Oak defines civic engagement as the involvement of the neighborhood, community, and individuals who are stakeholders in their future to action in order to improve their quality of life.

Portland Impact

Portland Impact defines civic engagement as knowledge of and active involvement in politics, culture, education, and local and global communities.  Civic engagement is a right and responsibility which should be readily available to all community members.

Metropolitan Family Service

Metropolitan Family Service defines civic engagement as the act of an individual or group to directly address a critical community need.  The effort may take many forms, from individual volunteerism to organizational involvement in advocacy; it can include efforts to directly address an issue or work with others in the community to solve a problem.

Family Service Association of San Antonio
