The Parental Stress Center

The Parental Stress Center- Civic engagement occurs through political and non-political process. It may seek to maintain the status que (e.g., persevering an increase in bus fares) or to change community conditions (e.g., advocating to expand the availability of public transit).

Family Service Association

Family Service Association broadly defines “active civic engagement” as “the commitment to participate and contribute to the improvement of one’s community, neighborhood and nation,” understanding that civic engagement can take many forms, from volunteerism to advocacy to electoral participation.

Partnership for Strong Families

Partnership for Strong Families defines civic engagement as the collaborative process of identifying community problems and, in response to these problems, implementing programs and policies that produce positive change for the community.

Impact Northwest

Impact Northwest defines civic engagement as knowledge of and active involvement in politics, culture, education, and local and global communities.  Civic engagement is a right and responsibility which should be readily available to all community members.

Lampion Center

Civic engagement to Lampion Center means actions and efforts; experiences and a feeling of belonging; investment and ownership in our local, state, and national community.  It means working to make a difference in the civic life of our community by developing the knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference.<
