"Forget other conferences you have attended -- this one will reframe and energize you to think outside the box and get involved on a personal and professional level to affect long term positive social change for your clients and communities." -- 2009 Institute participant
Designed to train human service professionals to better infuse civic engagement practices into a more normalized process that can stimulate community activism that lifts up the authentic voices of disenfranchised constituencies, the Alliance's Civic Engagement Institutes attract member staff from across the country.
The Institutes will:
· provide training and learning opportunities in civic engagement for nonprofit human service agency staff
· identify specific skills required to increase staff and volunteer involvement and success in civic engagement activities, especially with groups that have less access to decision makers
· explore pathways to develop organizational capacity to carry out civic engagement activities
. address strategies to close racial gaps
